FAQ

What do you think of cortisone shots?

Cortisone shots are injected locally to the affected area. The majority of this steroid will stay in the afflicted area, however, a certain percentage will enter the blood stream. For short term management of an extremely painful injury, cortisone can be helpful. However, long term use of cortisone shots can lower immune system function and create bone loss. Additionally, cortisone shots only mask over symptoms and do not address the underlying cause.
