- Crohn's Disease -
February 9, 2015
I just want to thank you so much for all the help you gave me with my Crohn’s/ulcerative colitis issues back in 2012. I give the credit to God, but realize how much He can work through individuals like you who are willing to work one-on-one with those of us who have suffered. I live a completely new life off medicines that I never dreamed of living here on earth. Once again, I’m very thankful to God. Right before I started this diet my husband opened up to Isaiah 58:8 and we knew immediately that I was going to get help. “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily.” May the Lord continue to grant you health and strength to continue your fulfilling job as a genuine nutritionist. The Lord bless and keep you!!
Just wanted to report some good news! I had a routine colonoscopy done this morning. I had not seen my GI Dr. since Jan. 2013. At that time I was not doing well...my counts were bad, I was experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort from my stricture. They recommended surgery and Remicade.
A month before my surgery I called you. It has been 1 1/2 years since our first appointment.
The Dr. came into the room today to talk with me before the procedure and he was amazed just looking at me and wondered what my secret is. What was I doing? He said, “The last time I saw you, you were scheduled for surgery....” I shared a bit but told him that I have an appointment with him in February. He wants to talk more then.
After the procedure he came in the room very excited! He said the last time he did a colonoscopy he couldn't even get the whole way through because my colon was kinked and twisted and I had not been able to clean out properly. I also had some polyps that he needed to remove. Today things were clear...I had completely cleaned out and my colon was not kinked or twisted. He was amazed!! He said he wants to tell his team of Drs. and wants to know more because he has some really hard cases right now.
Just wanted to let you know. He said he would like to talk with you. He didn't get any info from me except your name so I don't know if he will pursue it soon or wait till after my appointment in February.
In Jan. I am scheduled for an MRI to check my small intestine. He wants to see what is happening there. If that is better, he told me he will really be convinced!!
I am excited that my GI Dr. is this open to discuss and find out more. It seems pretty abnormal for a specialist like this to take interest.
Anyway, for whatever it is worth, I wanted to let you know......
Thanks for your help to me. I do feel like the Lord lead me to you. Though it hasn't been easy, I know the Lord wanted me to learn surrender in more ways. He has done great things and I want to praise Him.
Blessings to you,
A friend of mine ended up in the hospital last weekend. He was put on IV's, and is on 80 mg of prednisone, among other medications for ulcerative colitis.
The doctors want to remove his colon! Today I spoke with him and informed him that just because your colon is gone, the acid is still recycling in your intestines and in your body. I also told him that the medical profession typically doesn't recommend or understand the nutritional benefits to treat colitis.
Karen, I told him how much you have helped me (with pouchitis) after my J-pouch surgery. I told him that, before I went to you, that I couldn't walk or run 2 miles without worrying where a bathroom was, because I had to go!! The cramps were so bad. Guess what; this weekend, I will be running a half marathon (13.1 mi) and am not even worried where the bathrooms will be! I am so thankful for you, and love you for pursuing your career as a nutritionist. I feel so alive and well!
